CURRICULUM VITAE OF DUO LEBED

 

Maria and Sofia Lebed were both born on the 9th of December 1980 in Moscow. They studied at the Gnessin Music Gymnasium for highly gifted children from 1986 to 1999. They have been playing together since first grade. Duo Lebed had a number of performances in concert halls in Moscow.  Since 1994, the duo has been supported by lessons from Prof. Elena Ozol (Moscow Gnessin Academy). Prof. Ozol’s master classes take place at presence, as well. Maria Lebed is also a student of Prof. Arie Vardi (Musikhochschule Hannover), Sofia Lebed is a student of Prof. Juri Bashmet (Moscow State Conservatory).

 

Maria and Sofia Lebed participated in the following international music competitions:

 

1996, Moscow – “Classical Chamber Ensemble” (Duo – 2nd Prize)

 

1997, Hannover – 1st International Music Competition “Classica Nova” in memoriam of Dmitri Shostakovich (Sofia – 3rd Prize, Maria – 4th Prize and Special Prize “For outstanding piano accompaniment among young participants”)

 

1998, Togliatti – 4th Young Performers International Competition for Strings (Sofia – 3rd Prize, Maria – Diploma “The Best Piano Accompaniment”)

 

2000, Moscow – 4th Juri Bashmet Internatinal Viola Competition” (Sofia – 2nd Prize, Duo – Special Prize “The Best Ensemble”)

 

2000, Hannover 4. Karl-Bergemann Blattspiel-Wettbewerb („A Prima Vista“ Competition for Pianists) (Maria – 1st Prize)

 

2001, Trieste – 6th International Competition for Chamber Music Ensembles with Piano “Premio Trio di Trieste” (Duo – 2nd Prize)

 

2002, Weiden – International Max Reger Competition (Maria – 2nd Prize)

 

2002, Aix-en-Provence – TIM Torneo Internazionale di Musica, X Edizione (Duo – 2nd Prize)
